Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil is a compounded oil designed specifically for steam engines. Most cylinder oils have little (3%) or no tallow because they are also recommended for worm gears where emulsification with water is undesirable. Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil is recommended only for steam cylinders. Since it is not a compromise between two different applications, Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil provides the superior performance that only comes from a dedicated product.

Description

Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil is a compounded oil designed specifically for steam engines. Most cylinder oils have little (3%) or no tallow because they are also recommended for worm gears where emulsification with water is undesirable. Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil is recommended only for steam cylinders. Since it is not a compromise between two different applications, Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil provides the superior performance that only comes from a dedicated product.

Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil is formulated with 100% virgin Pure Paraffin Base Bright Stock and a high concentration of Acidless Tallow Oil (10%). Additives include a passive Extreme Pressure additive (synthetic sperm oil), lubricity enhancers, and foam inhibitor.

Cen-Pe-Co Steam Cylinder Oil emulsifies with water and steam. It provides superior lubrication on wet surfaces and holds on tenaciously to resist the washing effect of moisture. This product is designed for pressures of 75 to 175 PSI and temperatures up to 400°F. However, due to the heat resistance of its 100% Pure Paraffin Base Oil and highly refined Acidless Tallow Oil, it does not leave deposits at higher pressure and temperature levels like other cylinder oils (particularly those made with lard oil).

Cen-Pe-Co’s highly refined Pure Paraffin Base Oil does not have the solvency of base oils from over 100 years ago, so we recommend shaking before use to resuspend any settled tallow.
